Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. You will need to register as a temporary patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP.

This applies to illnesses and injuries arising while you are away.  Long term prescriptions and management of long term illness must be done by your own GP.  Your medical records and blood tests are not available to doctors seeing you as a temporary patient so it is not safe for them to prescribe long term medication such as blood pressure treatment for you.

You should take enough medication from your own practice to cover your holiday.  If more is required it should still be obtained from your own practice.  Prescriptions may need to be faxed or posted.

To register as a temporary patient please contact the practice.
