Bowel screening involves\u00a0<a title=\"Link to taking the bowel screening test\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsinform.co.uk\/Screening\/bowel\/takingthetest\">taking a simple test<\/a> at home every two years.<\/p>\n<p>Bowel screening has recently been the subject of an advertising campaign across Scotland as part of the\u00a0<a title=\"Link to Detect Cancer Early\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsinform.co.uk\/Cancer\/scotland\/dce\/bowelcancer\">Detect Cancer Early<\/a>\u00a0programme.<\/p>\n<p>Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in Scotland. Every year in Scotland, almost 4,000 people are diagnosed with the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Although bowel cancer is common, it is also highly treatable if detected early.. If we find bowel cancer early enough, there\u2019s more than a 90% chance of successful treatment. The sooner it\u2019s caught, the easier it is to treat.<\/p>\n<h3>Over 75<\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019re 75 or over you can still take a bowel screening test every two years if you want to.\u00a0You won\u2019t automatically be \u00a0sent\u00a0 a test kit\u00a0though so you\u2019ll need to ask\u00a0 for one.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s still free \u2013 just call the\u00a0<strong>Bowel Screening Centre Helpline on\u00a0<span class=\"skype_pnh_print_container\">0800 0121 833<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Don&#8217;t forget to do your bowel screening test!
