{"id":1108,"date":"2026-09-07T17:36:47","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T16:36:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/surgeryweb-scot.org.uk\/55201\/?page_id=1108"},"modified":"2026-09-07T17:36:47","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T16:36:47","slug":"basics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/surgeryweb-scot.org.uk\/55201\/basics\/","title":{"rendered":"BASICS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to routine GP care all the doctors are trained <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basics-scotland.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BASICS-Scotland<\/a> GPs and we are frequently called by the ambulance service to respond to medical emergencies, serious injuries, road accidents etc.<\/p>\n<p>BASICS is an organisation set up to train doctors, nurses and paramedics in the additional skills needed to treat critically ill or injured patients before they reach hospital.<\/p>\n<p>In Scotland we are also fortunate to have the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandpipertrust.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sandpiper trust<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; a charity which supplies a large amount of life saving equipment to BASICS responders.
