Appointments can be booked in advance which is\u00a0the best way to ensure you see the doctor of your choice.<\/p>\n<p>The reception is open from 08:00 and if you feel you need to see a doctor within 24 hours we would be grateful if you would telephone as early as possible as these appointments are limited. Please note there is a queuing system for calls; you will hear a ringing tone, please do not hang up.<\/p>\n<p>For those who require to see a doctor the same day an emergency surgery is held\u00a0each day if there are no routine appointments left. As the doctor available for this surgery is also covering other emergencies you may need to wait to be seen.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Please make a routine appointment if your problem is not urgent.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>GENERAL INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8216;Why does the receptionist need to ask what&#8217;s wrong with me?<\/em><\/strong>&#8216;<\/p>\n<p>It is <strong>not a case<\/strong> of the receptionists being nosey!<\/p>\n<p>The reception staff are members of the practice team and it has been agreed that they should ask patients &#8216;why they need to be seen&#8217;.\u00a0 Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that you receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the most appropriate medical care<\/li>\n<li>from the most appropriate health professional<\/li>\n<li>at the most appropriate time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>RECEPTIONISTS ARE ASKED TO COLLECT BRIEF INFORMATION FROM PATIENTS<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To help doctors prioritise house visits and phone calls<\/li>\n<li>To ensure that all patients receive the appropriate level of care<\/li>\n<li>To direct patients to see the nurse or other health professional rather than a doctor where appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>RECEPTION STAFF, LIKE ALL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM, ARE BOUND BY CONFIDENTIALITY RULES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any information given by you is treated strictly confidentially.<\/li>\n<li>The practice would take any breach of confidentiality very seriously and deal with accordingly.<\/li>\n<li>You can ask to speak to a receptionist in private away from reception<\/li>\n<li>However if you feel an issue is very private and do not wish to say what this is then this will be respected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice Nurses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with <a href=\"https:\/\/surgeryweb-scot.org.uk\/40224\/clinics-services\/\">many\u00a0conditions<\/a> and you may be seen more quickly.<\/p>\n<h2>Telephone Advice<\/h2>\n<p>If you wish to speak to a doctor or practice nurse please contact main reception leaving your name, contact number and message. Urgent requests may be dealt with by the doctor on call. If you wish to speak to a particular person the message will be given and they will answer as soon as possible, but it may not be the same day.<\/p>\n<h2>Cancellations<\/h2>\n<p>If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.<\/p>\n<h2>Home Visits<\/h2>\n<p>Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception as early in the morning as possible.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>For urgent GP medical attention please phone the emergency telephone number 0141 531 6427.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls<\/p>\n<p>You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.
